Before the Puck Drop: The drive for 6! Lehner Time

Image
One year ago to the day Robin Lehner posted a shutout against Tim Thomas and the Bruins. Tonight he will try to repeat his performance against Tukka Rask and the Bruins. Now we all know Robin Lehner is Ottawa`s goalie of the future and just waiting for his opportunity to jump into the spot light. Which is why he bribed Chris Kreider to slide into Craig Anderson and injure him. Voila Lehner has been given his opportunity. As much as AngrryHabsFan and all other Habs fans like to think that they are leading the Eastern Conference in reality the Bruins are in the drivers seat having played 4 less games than the Canadiens. This will be a very tough test for the Sens against a Stanley Cup favourite. Keys to la Victoire -Robin Lehner needs to play super super well. -Chris Neil needs to play a whole lot better and hopefully draw some calls. Specifically from guys like Lucic and Horton because I would take that trade off any day of the week. -Protect Karlsson   Spezza   ...

Habs Beat The Leafs In A Sexy Rematch

Two Goals For MAX! Habs Celebrate a big win over the Leafs! Carey Price Stands Tall! Time to hit the showers.  Back to Montreal!

Ohhh Babbyyy

Via SensTown A rare Wednesday match up pits the Montreal Canadiens vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre in beautiful  downtown Toronto. The last time these two teams met was about 3 week ago in Montreal when something really bad happened that we no longer speak of, but in turn, sparked our awesomeness of the past couple of weeks.  Who wouldn't trade one bad night for two weeks of orgasmic hockey. Revenge for that unspeakable night is in the cards tonight, and I for one am pumped! Not only are we upgraded from TSN-Habs, the entire Wednesday night hockey broadcast on TSN will be live from the Air Canada Centre giving it a World Junioresque feel.  And if you look at some of the players on both teams rosters, it makes total sense.  It's like an international reunion. Let's be honest the Leafs are not bad so far this year.  On the road they are even better.  Tonight, however, the Leafs will be at home in front of an empty buildin...

Bourque Concussed, Ryder Returns, Cole Gone

Wow, talk about a busy day in Montreal. MTL trades Erik Cole to DAL for Michael Ryder. — Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 26, 2013 And then: Fever, stuffy, headache, chills, then you've got a co... concussion really? #renebourque — AngryHabsFan (@AngryHabsFan) February 26, 2013 Twitter is great isn't it.  Funny how journalists make big dough to write stories about breaking tweets. All praise our lord and saviour Marc Bergevin. Goodbye Mr. Cole, you will be missed when we remember 2011/2012.  Not so much this year.

Sens, Habs Comparison Guide: Recap

Image
Sens:  #11 Daniel Alfredsson fakes throwing his stick into the crowd during a Maple Leafs Game. And it was awesome. Habs:  #11 Saku Koviu Returns from battling cancer and returns to a mediocre career as a non french speaking Habs Captain. Sens:  Have a roster full of young players that just wooped your young rsoters but. Habs:  Have a roster full of young players who are nearly leading the team in points because the rest of the team sucks. Sens:  Original logo featured the flag of Canada with a backdrop of the Parliament buildings.  was a barber pole black and red jersey. Habs:  later stole that barber poll design with disastrous consequences. Sens:  Won Stanley Cups like 90 years ago. And then didn't exist for 80 years so it doesn't really count. Habs:  Won Stanley cups like 90 years ago, and then in nearly every decade after that except for the last 2 when the Sens also existed. Sens + Habs:  The Radek Bonk years *cold shiver...

The Ice Cream Truck Melted

That sucked. 1 point for the Habs.  We need another 3 before Sunday against the Bruins.  Can we please beat the Maple Leafs in Toronto?  It would make the entire week 10 times better. Ben Bishop is a god.  Price played meh and that goal he let in was god awful but whatever, he's still an elite goalie. Forget the ice cream covered ladies, the offer is dead.  New incentive, if the Habs beat the Leafs tomorrow night you can have photos of the lady of your choice.  Comment below and let us know who would like to see if the Habs beat the Leafs.  More Upton?  Scarlett Johansson? Jennifer Lawrence? Megan Fox?  Just let us know. Until then the hockey games on tv tonight are pretty god awful.  Jets vs Rangers is on, meh.  Could be Torts last game as the coach of the NYR before Lindy Rufflepuffle takes over as bench boss.  Would he come back to the TSN panel again?  We can only hope so.

Never Forget

Sens Recap: Trustache and Corey Perry

Image
The Macleanian One aka The Paulrus aka Mike Watson look-a-lik e strikes again with a perfect game plan resulting in a 3-2 win for the Sens. Randy Carlisle has his Leafs playing well right now despite having Ben Scrivens as their number 1 goaltender. Carlisle has his teams play a dump and chase style game with an aggressive forecheck. This style matches up perfectly for the puck possession Senators. Oh your going to give the puck to us? thanks we enjoy having control of the puck. The leafs couldn't really get anything going all night because they couldnt get control of the puck in the Sens zone. How else did Maclean out coach Carlisle? He created a line of Greening-Zibanejad-Condra that scored all 3 goals and combined for 7 points in the game. Greening has spent much of the season on a checking line with Smith and Neil but was ill suited for that style of play. With his new line, they controlled the flow of the game and created scoring chances by driving the net. Case in point...

Just Another Win At The Bell

Image
I'd like to thank the Habs for picking up 7 of a possible 8 points this week.  I'd like to thank the New York Islanders for kicking our asses back into gear Thursday night.  And I'd like to most of all thank Therrien for putting together this line of Eller, Cole, And Chuckie.  What a beauty night, and Price with a 17 save shutout.  It's good times folks. So close to ice cream covered ladies, two more goals!  Maybe on Monday to brighten the start to your week.  If you can't wait then maybe check out Four Hockey Fans .  They totally stole our idea! AngrySensFan vs. AngryHabsFan Monday night in Kanata. Is that an ice cream bell I hear?

Sens Recap: Oh No Andy!

Image
Woah now Monsieur Habs Fan, I havent gone anywhere. The Senators pushed thier winning streak to 3 games last night by beating the Rangers in a shootout. Jakob Silfverberg was easily the best player on the ice and seems to finally be comfortable playing at the NHL level. Other Sens rookie and occasional Iranian Mika Zibanejad scored the game tying goal on the powerplay in the 3rd. I thought he was mostly invisible for most of the night but nice to see him get a goal. Would just like to point out the embarassing powerplay unit the Sens were being forced to play on that goal due to injuries. We have Wiercoch and Gryba on the point with Zbad, Smith and Greening up front. thats a total of 130 career points between them. Not good. Most significantly during this game we lost the leagues best goaltender (so far) to injury. Anderson was taken down by Chris Kreider in the crease and left the game with a sprained ankle. Bishop finished the game and looked good despite allowing the only 2 go...

I've Been Abandoned

Image
An Endangered Species  My fellow AngryHockeyFans have dropped off the face of the earth.  The Sens won last night and so did the Canucks.  Where are the victory dances out of the Ottawa and Vancouver bureau?  The Habs lose, and I'm hear to answer for it.  Heck, we were two goals away from ice cream covered ladies gracing the cover of this blog.  Sadly, it still has not happened. How did they blow two leads last night?  Especially 3-1 against the Islanders.  Tavares OT pass was probably the highlight of the night on TSN this morning, so whatever, Hickey deserved that goal.  But blowing those leads to the New York Islanders is tough to swallow.  It's safe to say that the travel fatigue of going to New York this week finally settled in.  Last nights game should have been played in Brooklyn, but that's an issue for the league offices to address.  Why is nobody else on the internet pissed about this? ...

Still On Top

Image
Just because you don't use it anymore, New York, doesn't mean we can't. Two days in a row on top of the Eastern Conference.  My, the view is mighty spectacular from way up here. We can almost make out that blue and orange team way down there outside of the playoff race, oh yeah, it's our opponent tonight. After playing back to back games, having a day off without hockey seems like an eternity!  I mean what else were we to do last night.  If you happened to catch the Philly & Pittsburgh game then you got a real treat!  If you didn't well then you suck because you missed out on some entertaining hockey. It always amazes me how entertaining other hockey games are compared to the Habs.  Lundqvist got it right when he said the Habs play a boring style of hockey because the last two games against the Rangers and Hurricanes have been snooze fests. I guess the Habs are also carrying a five game winning streak into t...

1st In The East!!!!

Image
How good are your Habs?  Chicago Blackhawks good!  Well, nearly, but we'll take it! The Montreal Canadiens have done the once thought impossible and won five games in a row!  Included in that pack are back to back games where the team had to travel from Montreal to New York.  Wow wow wow!  Take that Torts! It's a good night to be a Habs fan.  Feel free to freak out: Sorry, no photos of beautiful women covered in ice cream tonight.  Check back in the morning. Next up is the Islanders Thursday back at the Bell. Everyone is permitted a celebratory drink.  Enjoy!

Prustie Returns To NYC

Image
Big headline today is the return of Brandon Prust to Madison Square Garden after ditching his old team for more money and a longer contract in Montreal. Back to back games during the week is kind of a rip off.  The beauty of sport is the build up to the event.  The NFL has it perfect with basically playing the majority of their games only on Sundays and not during the week.  Sunday becomes football day and you are locked to the television.  My ideal nights for hockey to be on is Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday.  But instead of being a crotchy old man I'll let it go and realize that this is a shortened season. Habs are 2nd in the Eastern Conference and on a four game winning streak.  Wow, that feels really good to say.  Habs are 2nd in the Eastern Conference and on a four game winning streak! Yes!!!! But you know who else is really good at hockey lately?  The New York Rangers, even though they are in 8th place they are a sm...

Cam Ward Is Afraid Of Your Slapshot

Image
Habs win 3-0 after some awesome 3rd period goals on Cam Ward.  Could Pacioretty get a weirder first goal of the season?  Good to see him finally on the scoreboard. The night, however, belongs to Budaj with his shutout.  Great job Mr. Flanders. In keeping with our promises around here, enjoy three photos of Kate Upton for our sexy victory/goals tonight: Scores!  Prust made it 1 to nothing.   Scores!  Plekanec almost blew Ward's lid off! Pacioretty gets his first of the year on a beauty. Habs are back at it tomorrow in New York Citaeyyyy!

Happy Birthday Abe!

Image
The Prudential Center stands this afternoon Its Family Day today, a day to enjoy family time by staying home from work/school and watching the price is right together, AND AFTERNOON HOCKEY! Our Sens played the Devils today in what can only be described as "the greatest game of hockey ever played". After falling behind very early in the first period, Ben Bishop recomposed himself and played great. Meanwhile the Sens players decided to bore the Devils to sleep ala "Hypnosis" from Pokemon. It's super effective. Critical Hit. The Sens were snake bitten early hitting post after post but eventually El Capitano Alfredsson tied it up in the third period. Weird moment at the end of regulation as a scuffle broke out nothing out of the ordinary happens, not even a fight breaks out. BUT David Clarkson and Chris Neil get 10 minute misconduct penalties and miss the rest of the game. Also Clarkson got an extra 2, putting the sens on the powerplay. Weirdest friggen call...

McBain & Company Come To Town

Image
A player on Carolina has the last name 'McBain.'  I'm sorry about the immaturity, but that is just a solid last name for a hockey player. Tonight a Hurricane rolls into town as your Habs play a rare Montreal night game at the Bell Centre.  Maybe because it's Family Day?  Or maybe because the scheduler is trying to screw us again. After tonight's game the Habs have to fly to New York to play the Rangers tomorrow night.  If that's not bad enough, instead of staying in New York to play the Islanders they have to fly back home for a game Thursday night.  Why not just have the Habs stay in New York to play the Islanders Thursday?  There's no need to shuffle us around when the team is literally just minutes away from the other rink.  C'mon NHL! So last week we basically played C hockey and walked away with 6 points.  It was epic.  This week 8 points are up for grabs with games against Carolina, New York (the good one), New Yo...

Top Ten Things You Didn't Notice About HDIA 2013

Image
This, unfortunately, is a thing now.  10. Alexander Ovechkin didn't get on the score board, and you did notice because the media drove it down your throat 4 times per period. 9. The Montreal Canadiens announced rookie forward Brendan Gallagher has a concussion and will be out of the line up for awhile.  The collective hockey world gasped in anger until they figured out Gallagher plays in Montreal. 8. The Chicago Blackhawks came within 1 goal of losing their first regulation game of the season.  The margine would have been bigger, but this was an NBC game after all, and nobody likes a blow-out in the ratings world.  Especially when your top sports rating competitor for Hockey Day in America was......ohhh that makes sense now.  7. Several thousands of Americans now think it's okay to ride somebody else's coat-tails at work while taking home a decent salary after seeing Pascal Dupuis score two goals against the...

Happy Hockey Day In America

Image
Well, really didn't expect to beat the Flyers by 3 goals, but we'll take it. For the majority of the game the Habs totally dominated the Flyers in every aspect.  Other than a few interesting power plays the game was extremely lopsided.  Heck, Budaj even played pretty good in net (when he was needed). The one goal Philly did score bounced about a thousand different ways before finally finding its way through Budaj's legs.  I may have over reacted on twitter: Ugh, why does Peter Budaj have to be 'Peter Budaj Bad'. — AngryHabsFan (@AngryHabsFan) February 17, 2013 I got no twitter klout for that one... Just before that happened PK Subban (aka Mr. Selfish) made a HUGE diving save to keep the game 2-0 for your Habs.  Suck on that French media (& myself). What's really awesome is how we keep out shooting teams game after game.  This never happens, even when we used to be a great hockey teams a couple years ago Halak was always getting pound...

Sens Recap: Good Greif

Image
Last night the Leafs shutout our Senators 3-0 in a foreshadowing of the rest of the season. No Spezza, no goals. No Karlsson, no goals. No Michalek, no goals. Anderson can play amazing hockey all season, like he did last night and still the senators arent going to win many games if they can't put the puck in the net. The senators had 3 players make their NHL debuts last night and it showed in the on ice product. Just so you can truly grasp the how inexperienced this team is take a look back at this stat from Silver Seven : "Of the 18 skaters Ottawa has playing (last night), seven of them are eligible for the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year. They are Silfverberg, Zibanejad, Da Costa, Dzirzinsky, Grant, Wiercoch and Gryba. Jim O'Brien misses the cut off by 3 due to playing 28 games last year." Also remember that Borowiecki who did not play is also eligible and that Benoit is not eligible because he's 29 years old despite the fact he had zero games experie...

Saturday Hockey Memories ~ Saturday May 3rd 2008

Image
Saturday nights in Montreal are a special time to celebrate the tradition of our game.  History, heritage  and culture are binded together for a few hours in downtown Montreal.  There truly is no better place to be on a Saturday night. This new feature documents memorable Saturday nights at the Bell Centre.  This week we focus in on a game against the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2008 playoffs that ended our playoff run.  At the time it was one of the Canadiens deepest playoff runs in recent history (axed by Halak and the Habs two years later). Below is CBC's opening montage for the game and it is awesome: The Canadiens lost the game 6-4 that night and were eliminated from the playoffs ending their magical 2007/2008 season.  It was also the first season that I began blogging about the Montreal Canadiens.  Sorry for that internet. Price made 31 saves that night, but the Flyers dominated us.  I remember we...

Angry Armchair GMs

Welcome to a new segment of the Angry Hockey Fan network. In Angry Armchair GMs we will take a look at some intriguing situations around the league and try to put ourselves in a GMs shoes, trying to create trades, sign free agents and so on. Think of it as career mode for NHL 13 only not a video game. 1. The Avalanche cannot get Ryan O'Reilly to sign a contract with them and are apparently listening to trade offers for him. Does it make sens for your team to pursue him? If yes, who would you give up to get him? Keep in mind that the Avalanche are looking for a roster player and a good prospect. AngryHabsFan Not a chance in the world.  Our team just got finished dealing with a big contractual distraction and we do not need another Pre-Madonna asking for millions of dollars; either now, or down the road.  Obviously a guy like O'Reilly is in it for the $$$, if he actually cared about his team he would have signed a contract by now.  The...

Kesler's Return?

Image
Canucks Look to get Kesler back for tonight's game against Dallas Tonight is the first meeting of the season against the Canucks and the Stars at Rogers Arena.  The Canucks have won six straight and now are starting to climb in the western conference, and the Canucks do not see this streak stopping anytime soon in the future and neither do I. The biggest news about tonight's game is that the Canucks second line center, Ryan Kesler has been cleared to play in full body contact action and may possibly make his 2013 season debut tonight against the stars who will look to end the win streak.  I don;t think there is anyway that the Canucks could lose tonight's game against the stars if Kesler plays.  The team will be so hyped up about Keslers return that anything in their way will get destroyed that includes the Dallas Stars.  This will be another step  in the right direction for the Canucks if Kesler can return which will boost the Canucks lineup.  The ...

We are fucked

Image
As my friend AngryHabsFan eluded to already, yesterday was the end of the world as we know it for Sens fans. Matt Cooke's skate caught Karlsson in the Achilles tendon last night on a scuffle in the corner. First off don't even think that this was Matt Cooke being a dirty player and that he did this on purpose. It was just one of those freak plays that happen. No timeline has been given yet for Karlsson's return but I think its safe to say that he won't be back this season. Hopefully he can return from this injury and still be a great player. We already have Michalek playing on robotic knees so hopefully EK can get a hold of Milo's doctor. Speaking of Michalek he also disappeared before the game last night with a mysterious undisclosed injury. No word on what exactly is the extent of his injury yet. So without Spezza, Michalek, Karlsson and Jared Cowen I think its safe to say we are fucked and need to focus on shipping out Gonchar at the deadline and going ...

How's Your Day Going Sens Fans?

Image
If you love something, let it g....screw you Therrien! Boy did we have something to tweet about last night!  On the day the Ottawa Senators attempted to revoke access to their games to rival fans their top player went down with a severe cut to his achilles tendon.  Usually those types of injuries are career ending, either directly or indirectly by taking away the players former abilities to perform.  Since I'm not a Sens fan I really don't care about the future of the organization, I hope they tank this year.  On a personal level I hope Karlsson is able to carry on with a normal life after he recovers from last nights surgery. Now that we have that out of our system we do have a game tonight of our own in Florida.  And guess what, Budaj basically got the boot from the team today when the Habs released a media statement saying that we have acquired Dustin TOKARSKI.  If you live in Canada you will understand why his name in cap locks.  If yo...

Before the Puck Drop: Sens @ Pens

Image
For the secondt time this season the Senators will get a look at Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. This is the second game of a back to back tonight after a 2-0 win over the Sabres last night. Anderson posted the shutout and it looks like he will get the start again tonight. The Penguins have playeed most of their game son the road but so far this year they are less than stellar at home. Which is good for the Senators. The Penguins pulled out the win in a 2-1 shootout win in their last meeting hopefully the Senators can reverse that result and get on a roll with a couple consecutive wins. The lineup will stay the same from last night except Wiercoch will sub out for Benoit. Looks like the Penguins will be without Kris Letang tonight but ya never know, same goes for Matt Niskanen who's been out since game 5 of the season. I love Kyle Turris and I think he has an incredible shot, but I've always noticed he has a really hard time getting his shot off, seems like every second s...

Body Shots

Image
Last night I decided that I would take a break mid-way through the Habs game to watch President Obama's state of the union address.  When I left the game it was 3-0 for our Habs and I figured the team was in good hands(because I am a total luck charm).  When I returned to the game around 10:15 PM OT was about to start.  I had literally missed about 15 minutes of the game and apparently all hell broke lose.  What is with this team not being able to hold onto a lead in the 3rd period!  Think about it.  We could have beat the Bruins AND the Sabres last week if we didn't collapse.  We might of even beat the Leafs if we didn't collapse after the opening face off.  Somehow this team needs to find a way to keep it together for 60 minutes and not go to sleep.  We are a solid hockey team this year, and probably deserve to be a lot higher in the standings, which is why this is so frustrating.  We gave a point up last night to t...

It's Bell Let's Talk Day, & Your Habs Are Going To Lay A Beat Down In Tampa

Image
Flat, sloppy, and ready to be bit into best describes the Habs last game. Happy Pancake Tuesday 2013!  Today is the day we stuff our bellies full of pancakes annually, sending the stock of aunt jemima through the roof!  The other 364 days of the year the pancake industry is reliant upon sunday morning breakfasts at curling clubs.  It's a fact. Your Habs are down in the lovely state of Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Lighting.  It's 22 C as a I write, yes we feel bad for you. What bugs me is when people say that the southern United States is not a hot bed for hockey.  Just think about it.  It's warm, the tickets to games are cheap, and you have tons of room to stretch out in the empty seats beside you to put your free concession food.  If I lived in Tampa Bay I'd be the biggest Lightning fan down there.  If you compare the price of going to a Sports Bar and watching the game to the price of going to a game in Tampa...

Canucks vs Wild Take 2

Image
Tonight the Canucks will take on the Wild again as they look to destroy them like last game.  The only difference in tonight's games from last weeks game is that by the sounds of it Luongo might start in net.  This could go one of two ways either he will be spectacular in net and once again raise hype over who will be the starting goalie, or he will fail miserably like he has in the past against the wild and then Schnieder will get put in net and maybe then the controversy over who will start in net for the Canucks will be over, but I doubt that will happen!  Basically all the Canucks need to do tonight is the same things as they were able to do last game against the Wild, shut down the top line. Really that is all I have to say about tonight's game because if you check out my previous post about the game against the Wild my predictions are going to be basically the same, and the goalie controversy is still the same but only a different goalie is starting the game.

Bob Cole.. Leafs and the other guys..

Leafs Take A Bite Out Of Habs

Image
I don't have to talk about last nights game.  This is all I will say: Grabovski Team Photo Actually, I don't even want to talk about the Eastern Conference because the Habs are probably going to somehow manage to lose to every single team in it.  You know what seems to be really cool this weekend?  Naming Canada's potential 2014 olympic mens hockey roster.  Since I have a total hate on right now for the Eastern Conference I have built my olympic picks using players solely from the West.   And after the IOC chairmen went on national tv and told us that people in North America have ego problems, this list is probably not going to matter anyway.  Chicoutimi beer league division A probably has a better shot at playing in the olympics than NHL players do now. Regardless, here is Team Canada Western Conference Addition.  Debate in the comment section.  Duchene- Toews- Sharp Whitney- Thor...

Taking a Shot at my Fellow Bloggers

Image
Vancouver Canucks:  This Roberto Luongo situation is getting ridiculously hilarious. Schneider takes a dump to start the season and Luongo is suddenly the cities saviour. Alan Vigneault's dilemma here is that when he names Luongo as the team's starting goaltender going forward it totally fucks up Mike Gillis' plans and trade negotiations. You can't trade a goalie that your team is playing well in front of and replace him with Schneider who your team does not play well in front of. Player's play differently in front of different goaltender's, for example team's generally play much more conservatively in front of their backup goalie. This isn't by coaches design its just a subconscious change you make based on things like your confidence in that goalie. For whatever reason, right now the Canucks are playing MUCH better in front of Luongo. Therefore Vigneault has to stick with Luongo to give his team its best chance of winning. Reminds me of the Can...

Sens Recap: Borefest

Image
This Sens-Jets game was possibly the most boring game of the season and I watched the WHOLE thing, thats called blogger dedication. Considering we have already played a 1-0 game against the Canes as well as an additional boring 2-1 game against the Canes, the fact that this was the MOST boring game is quite a feat. No hitting, 1 goal, no good scoring chances for either team, no amazing saves, no fights, boring, boring, boring. Aside from the boring aspect the Senators turned the puck over in recurring and comical fashion including a perfect tape-to-tape pass from Condra to Blake Wheeler during a breakout, and a Karlsson giveaway that lead to the games only goal. Nobody looked good in the game and for the most part nobody was noticeable. Shitty all around. All i have to say.

Before the Puck Drop: Happy Hockey Day in Canada

Image
Today's game kicks off at 2:00pm when the Ottawa Senators will play the Winnipeg Airplanes. We are already through a quarter (basically) of the season and the Senators are just trying to stay above water with Spezza out. So far they have looked alright but with him in the lineup they are a playoff team. Without him they may not be. The Jets have started off the season at 4-5-1 and once again play like they did last year, posting a really good record at home and a terrible record on the road with just one win so far. Lucky for us tonight's game is at Scotiabank place. Mark Borowiecki was sent down to Binghamton to make room for Mike Lundin. Lundin looked alright in his debut but nothing to brag about. Gotta be happy for a guy like Andre Benoit who finally gets his shot in the NHL as a 29 year old rookie. Other than that I don't foresee any lineup changes as the Senators played pretty well against the HurriStaals. I honestly could not believe that Carolina won that game O...

In Defence Of White, Budaj

Image
Very close.  We could almost taste 2 points until the final few minutes of the game when White decided to go after Steve Ott.  With 1.9 seconds left there was a mad scramble in front of the Habs net, and the puck went in to tie the game.  Neither White or Budaj are at fault, and here's why: Though Coach Therrien seems to think this was Ryan White fault that we lost the game, it's not.  Prior to White's boarding penalty Ott was roughing up Gionta at the blue line.  In defence of his Captain White came in to let Ott know that this is not acceptable behaviour.  In doing so White ended up with a penalty at a costly time in the game.  However, the alternative to taking the penalty is to send the message not only to the Sabres, but to other teams around the league, that roughing up our Captain is something that is acceptable.  I thought Montreal had a new brand of hockey, a team mentality where we stick up for each other, even it's ...
