I caved and went to bed early last night. When Kimmel was leading a group of Hollywood stars across the street I checked out for the night.
As I rolled over in bed I knew Get Out was going to be robbed. My stomach began to ache, and I let out some pretty stinky gas. Truly a sign of the injustice that was about to happen to this modern classic.
However, when I woke this morning to find both the best actor and the best actress won that I predicted I was quite pleased. Actually, both the best supporting actor and actress I had picked right as well. Was this a sign of sure success coming for Get Out? Clearly not.
I haven't seen The Shape of Water yet, so I'm with holding my reservations about it being the best film of the year for now. What makes me nervous is that a terrible film like Spotlight can win best picture.
The Shape of Water would make a great name for a documentary film about outdoor hockey or something.
Tonight and this afternoon will be an outright cluster&@$^. I can't even begin to try to calculate who we are going to end up playing in the first round. If we lose tonight it will be the Leafs, simple as that. If we win and Boston loses their game to Washington then things will get interesting tomorrow night in the finale game of Ottawa vs Boston. So basically win for drama and lose to play the Leafs. My heart says lose and sweep the Leafs out in the first round for what would be revenge for every Saturday night game of my childhood living in Ontario. My sensible self says win and end up playing an easier team seeded way lower than us. It is going to be an interesting 40 hours ahead. Oh, and if we draw the Sens in the first round I'd be all over some tickets, so kinda hoping for that too.
