Don't Worry Guys I'm Still Here
Hello blogosphere of hockey, the prophet has returned. The Sens broke out of slump against the Rangers the other night in a 3-2 win thanks to Ooh Ah Silfverberg. The Senators were on a streak of 4 straight losses (regulation and OT/SO combined) before this win.
More importantly to me? was that even though we lost to the leafs, we scored 4 goals. 4 goals! we hadnt scored more than three goals in a game since Feb 3rd before this game happened. Then we scored 3 goals against the Rangers the next game. Offensive outburst much? Before the leaf game we hadnt scored more than 2 goals in a game in 2 weeks. Yikes. In fact I think were averaging under 2 goals per game with Karlsson out. Not good.
On a positive note, how good has Robin Lehner been? hes kept the Sens in games the have no business being a part of and has nabbed 4 out of a possible 6 points. On the other hand Ben Bishop has been equally amazing in the absence of Craig Anderson (he of the leagues best save percentage). What does this mean? It means that the Senators have 3 goaltenders in their system that are better than any of the leafs goaltenders. Screw you Belfour! hahaha.
Also on a positive note, it looks like the Sens will get Spezza back sooner than expected as he should be good to go in 2-3 weeks time. Awesome. The addition of Spezza to the lineup should mean more goals and considering how good our defense/goaltending has been it should mean a lot more wins. It also means Kyle Turris will get to play against lesser competition on the second line and hopefully score a goal, Mr I havent scored in a month and a half.
On an embarassing note? Jakob Silverberg recorded 1 shot in the win against the Rangers and that shot means he finally passes Erik Karlsson for the team lead in shots. I know right its ridiculous! EK also remains the team leader in goals with 6. Ya and he hasnt played in forever. Karlsson also still leads the Finish Elite League for points among defensemen having played half the games of the next closest player.
Anyways thanks for the win Monsieur Silfverberg
