10 Years Ago Today

Where did a decade go? I remember this game, and basically being on my knees throughout most of it.  When Laich scores the late goal in the 3rd I almost hurled, and then on top of that we take a penalty! The ride Halak gave us in 2010 will never be matched!  41 saves in a Game 7! No idea how Sportsnet isn't airing this one tonight!?  I'm surprised they aren't airing random 2016 Blue Jays baseball games instead. I don't need 80s and 90s game all week.  Mix in some modern classics like this!

Who Made This Schedule!?

Image
Do I feel bad for the Sens? No. Do I feel good about 3 wins in a week over the Ottawa Senators? Yes. Do I wonder who made this ridiculous NHL schedule down the stretch? Yes. Honestly reverse the settings of these games and I could see the Sens having won 2 of the 3 games. BUT, thats not what happened, and your Montreal Canadiens now own a 3 point lead in the Atlantic Division. Having 2 of the 3 games in Montreal was HUGE.  HUUUUGGGEEEEEE! via GIPHY Leafs in 6.  Oh, and btw the blog is back baby.

HOLY MOLIGINLA! What A Shit Storm Last Night Was

Image
One of the forensic doctors hired by Eugene Melnyk Busy day, busy day. Well The Penguins became the new Stanley Cup favourites last night, oh they already were? oh ok disregard then. Iginla is headed to Pittsburgh and snubs the Bruins, haha thats fantastic. Where will Iginla fit in on the Pens roster? Does he play with Crosby and Kunitz, or with Malkin and Neal? I dunno but I have my reservations about this deal.  Iginla's done well in his career despite never having a true numero uno center with the Flames. The reason? Iginla loves to carry the puck and create his own chances, a role usually played by a teams number one centerman ala Crsoby and Malkin. Unfortunately if Iginla plays that way in Pittsburgh it means he is keeping the puck off the stick of either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin, 2 much more dangerous players than a 40 year old Iginla. So it will be interesting to see how this new look Pens team meshes together. Cause we all know besides that one goal Crosby h...

First Round Breakdown

Image
Now that the Habs season is over the blog format will be changing for the playoffs.  Instead of the usual Monday, Wednesday, Friday format there will now only be ONE post per week during the playoffs. Now that we have that cleared up, I'm going to take a look at each series for the first round of the playoffs. New York Rangers: Finally after years of being so close, and being a 6th or 7th place team, the Rangers finally win the Eastern Conference in a city where the fun never stops. Ottawa Senators: In the first year of their re-build they just squeak into the playoffs ahead of the Sabres.  Leafs fans are a bit upset and shocked by this, but are still glad they live in Toronto, as compared to Ottawa, the city fun forget. Winner: New York Rangers in 6 Boston Bruins: If the Bruins can keep Tim Thomas away from the public protests at the White House during games 3 and 4 then this team should have a chance at winning the series. Washington Capitals : I...
