Angry Armchair GMs

Welcome to a new segment of the Angry Hockey Fan network. In Angry Armchair GMs we will take a look at some intriguing situations around the league and try to put ourselves in a GMs shoes, trying to create trades, sign free agents and so on. Think of it as career mode for NHL 13 only not a video game. 1. The Avalanche cannot get Ryan O'Reilly to sign a contract with them and are apparently listening to trade offers for him. Does it make sens for your team to pursue him? If yes, who would you give up to get him? Keep in mind that the Avalanche are looking for a roster player and a good prospect. AngryHabsFan Not a chance in the world.  Our team just got finished dealing with a big contractual distraction and we do not need another Pre-Madonna asking for millions of dollars; either now, or down the road.  Obviously a guy like O'Reilly is in it for the $$$, if he actually cared about his team he would have signed a contract by now.  The...

Taking a Shot at my Fellow Bloggers

Vancouver Canucks:  This Roberto Luongo situation is getting ridiculously hilarious. Schneider takes a dump to start the season and Luongo is suddenly the cities saviour. Alan Vigneault's dilemma here is that when he names Luongo as the team's starting goaltender going forward it totally fucks up Mike Gillis' plans and trade negotiations. You can't trade a goalie that your team is playing well in front of and replace him with Schneider who your team does not play well in front of. Player's play differently in front of different goaltender's, for example team's generally play much more conservatively in front of their backup goalie. This isn't by coaches design its just a subconscious change you make based on things like your confidence in that goalie. For whatever reason, right now the Canucks are playing MUCH better in front of Luongo. Therefore Vigneault has to stick with Luongo to give his team its best chance of winning. Reminds me of the Can...

Luongo To Montreal

Wanted! Amid the chaos of the last two days, trade rumours with a number of teams have come up in regards to misfit; Roberto Luongo.  The question the media seems to not be reporting on is why not bleu blanc rouge? Aside from the pretentious behaviour, Luongo has some solid backing as being able to handle the job in Montreal, so why no rumors of a move further East than Toronto? Price has had a mediocre career thus far in Montreal, and his abilities in the future will surely be called into question, as they have always been from his draft day.  How much of the aggressive media/ fans can he handle before a major blow occurs?  Or has it already?  We’ve seen his personality in the past making headlines from ‘The Wave’ to last years ‘Chill’ comments in the pre-season.  Aside from this Carey Price is from British Columbia, home of the Vancouver Canucks.  Roberto Luongo?  Born in Montreal Quebec.  With so much emphasis on homegrown talent from Quebe...
