Thank god we can just witness hockey in it's purest form during the playoffs.  Tonight that will be Washington beating the leafs (badly) in regulation time.

Sens Recap: Trustache and Corey Perry

The Macleanian One aka The Paulrus aka Mike Watson look-a-lik e strikes again with a perfect game plan resulting in a 3-2 win for the Sens. Randy Carlisle has his Leafs playing well right now despite having Ben Scrivens as their number 1 goaltender. Carlisle has his teams play a dump and chase style game with an aggressive forecheck. This style matches up perfectly for the puck possession Senators. Oh your going to give the puck to us? thanks we enjoy having control of the puck. The leafs couldn't really get anything going all night because they couldnt get control of the puck in the Sens zone. How else did Maclean out coach Carlisle? He created a line of Greening-Zibanejad-Condra that scored all 3 goals and combined for 7 points in the game. Greening has spent much of the season on a checking line with Smith and Neil but was ill suited for that style of play. With his new line, they controlled the flow of the game and created scoring chances by driving the net. Case in point...

Best Coach's Corner In Years. Well it was a bit of a shaky start but your Montreal Canadiens pulled off what they needed to do heading into the playoffs, beat two Canadian teams.  Last night was pretty awesome, minus the lack of overall drama but hey a win is a win. Now we wait. A Boston win tonight screws everything up and we are sent down to play the Leafs in the first round.  A Sens win and we play the Sens in the first round.  It's tough to cheer for a team that you may have to play in the first round of the playoffs, but for the the next 12 hours we are all Sens fans. I could care less about a Montreal vs Toronto series.  If it happened deep in the playoffs for the East title then ya, maybe that would be exciting, but a first round match up is just plain lame.  The only thing playing Toronto would do is wear us emotionally out for the second round matchup, which may be against the Penguins at that point.  I'd rather play the Sens an...

Today I discuss my least favourite hockey personality of them all. Sure people like Nick Kypreos, Ron Maclean and Mike Milbury are insufferable but McGuire is just on another level or annoyance. Its been 2 years since he left TSN to focus full time on american networks Versus and NBC Sports where his statements of the obvious are  accepted by the casual fan rather than made fun of by the knowledgable (canadian) fan. It seems only yesterday that he was having full on orgasms for Dustin Tokarski and choosing one player during the World Juniors to have a full on man crush for (Claude Giroux) and another to repeatedly point out his deficiencies (PK Subban). Great play-by-play commentators know when to speak and when to stay quiet. Harry Neale will always be my favourite for his funny comments and for knowing when he can add some insight to a situation and knowing when to let Bob Cole do his thing.
